Celebrating Advent, Wishing you Peace

“The birth of Jesus made possible not just a new way of understanding life but a new way of living it.”
-
Frederick Buechner “Listening to Your Life,” Christianity Today, Vol. 37, no. 15

”Life is a constant Advent season: we are continually waiting to become, to discover, to complete, to fulfill. Hope, struggle, fear, expectation and fulfillment are all part of our Advent experience.

“The world is not as just, not as loving, not as whole as we know it can and should be. But the coming of Christ and his presence among us—as one of us—give us reason to live in hope: that light will shatter the darkness, that we can be liberated from our fears and prejudices, that we are never alone or abandoned.

“May this Advent season be a time for bringing hope, transformation and fulfillment into the Advent of our lives.”

    Merry Christmas you guys!

Been thinking about you a lot lately and praying for you. I was actually in your neighborhood a couple weeks ago. I enjoyed the fountain in the pond at the bottom of the hill between your street and Brookmont Terrace. Looks like a good place to drop a line and catch some sunfish! Sorry I couldn’t stop.

OK, you got me. I wasn’t really there. I was using “Street View” in Google Maps to scope out your new neighborhood from the comfort of my “home office” in all the glory my widescreen monitor could muster. Amazing feature. Anyway, looks like a great place to live. I like all the trees.

We just received eight inches of the fluffy white stuff in our 5th or 6th storm of the season. Temp is -3 with a windchill of -20. Good thing winter starts today! I’m already carrying snow and dumping it other places because the piles at the end of the drive are so tall. It’s going to be an interesting winter.

Thanks for the Advent reminder above. Interesting to think of life as a constant Advent season. I hope and pray new friendships are being formed, your steps in following our Savior remain sure, and this Christmas season is filled with all the joy and wonder of childhood as you celebrate our King’s birth.

    Miss you.

    Tim

love Google maps… you almost had me. :-) It is in the 70’s here today, but it has been cold. We were in IL for a weekend and got to experience WINTER. It was fun, for a weekend. It was great to “hear” from you! SHALOM.
